Joining The Invasion

Today L.egoland was invaded. We had to take Dar.th Vad.er so he could supervise the take over:

Assured that the invasion was proceeding on schedule, Darth borrowed a landspeeder and told a small Storm Trooper to drive him to the front lines:

At the front Darth captured R2-D2 and R2-DInfant:

Confident in the invasion's success Darth decided to stroll down memory lane and review his past victories via Le.go miniatures. He particularly enjoyed reviewing H.oth:

After a brief stop for lunch Darth and his Storm Trooper decided to turn back into McColley and Brayton just in time to watch a parade of St.ar War.s characters (can you spot the End.or Storm Trooper walking past?):

We were standing at the very start of the parade and it was crowded so McColley squeezed himself up to the edge to get a better view:

The parade only lasted a few minutes and then the crowd dispersed. The boys knew exactly which ride they wanted to go on and as we headed toward it we walked right back onto the parade route! This spot wasn't crowded at all and we got a much better view of the characters:

The ride we had to get to was Driving School. Much to Brayton's excitement he is now old enough to go on it too. Unfortunately the sign saying '15 Minute Wait' was lying:

In fact, it took so long that Pearson squeezed in a nap:

And then finally it was time to drive!

Brayton had a bit of trouble at first figuring out how to go straight:

Still wanting to drive, we headed over to the boats. Unfortunately it was another long wait so the boys had to do a bit of hanging around:

Pearson is a bit too little for the boats so I taught him how to look cool in sunglasses while we waited:

After an hour in the queue the boys got to climb aboard a yellow abovemarine:

Daddy and Brayton were nice and let McColley drive the whole way:

After all that driving the only other thing the boys wanted to do was play on the playground. On our way there we ran into Han Solo and Luke Skywalker:

Finally it was time to go and after much thought and consideration Brayton decided he did want to have a picture with some Storm Troopers:

Swingin' Into Spring

This afternoon the sun was shining and the temperature was perfect so we decided to go to the park.

Pearson got to try out a swinging for the first time:

New Glasses

My new glasses came in! They're my first new pair in five years... wow, I can't believe I've had one pair for that long!

Ice And Water

Today we drove to Birmingham to watch 'D.isney On Ice: Pr.incesses and H.eroes':

We had really good seats too:

Upon entering the arena the boys immediately saw what they wanted as their souvenirs... swords! They got them as we were waiting for the show to start (and a stern lecture on sword etiquette):

The show started with Al.addin, then on to Sn.ow Whit.e and Bel.le. Eventually we got to Ar.iel... or should I say Er.ic. The L.ittle Merma.id section started with a big sailor number.

We were curious what was going to happen when they brought out a teeter-totter... until they sent one guy sailing through the air:

He landed perfectly!

Halfway through Ari.el's story it was time for intermission and some baby kissin':

And some sword fighting:

And then the show was back. We got to see Eri.c kiss Ar.iel and then Ti.ana told us about her restaurant. Soon A.urora was asleep on high and Phi.llip had to fight a fire-breathing (for real!) dragon with the Swor.d of Tru.th (a.k.a. what the boys are calling their souvenirs).

Of course, there was only one story left. As soon as McColley saw the costume he whispered, "Take a picture!"

Prince Ch.arming had arrived:

With the headlining act now over, we assumed all that was left was the grand finale but we were wrong. When McColley saw the next hero skate out he shouted, "TAKE A PICTURE!"

Flynn R.ider was in the house:

Now it was finally time for the grand finale and I made sure to get a picture of all the heroes:

We all had a great time at the show but we were also excited to go and get lunch.

Once our bellies were full we walked over to the Se.aLife aquarium.

One of the first exhibits was 'N.emo's Worl.d'. We used the signs and found all of the characters:

The boys enjoyed the large tanks full of bigger animals:

And the jellyfishes were pretty cool too:

Unfortunately Pearson didn't find the otters very exciting:

One of our last stops was the ocean tunnel. The hammerhead shark got the loudest "TAKE A PICTURE!!!" of the day:

We had to walk through a mirror maze to exit and I took the opportunity to get a family picture:

Down On The Farm

Our Fridays are now much more open since Brayton gets out of school at noon and McColley is done with basketball season. So today we decided to take advantage of our time and visit Sacrew.ell Farm.

It turns out you can feed the animals. McColley decided to give it a try:

Brayton decided he would help feed the animals by standing as far away as possible and ignoring the whole experience:

However they both agreed that the outdoor play area was worth exploring:

Brayton then noticed a tractor and he had to 'drive' it:

McColley also wanted to climb on (but I think it was mostly for the photo op):

We made our way around the farm and found a few animals that could be petted but NOT fed:

Eventually Brayton decided he wanted to pet the donkey - if petting means touch it with one finger:

Finally we found something that Brayton really enjoyed doing with the animals (a.k.a. chucking handfuls of food at them through a fence):

McColley enjoyed feeding the meandering ducks that happened across our path:

We explored the mill house a bit and learned that there has been farms on this site since before the Bronze Age:

Worn out by learning and animals we ventured into the indoor play area. The boys were super excited to drive tractors that actually moved:

When they were done playing we completed our final hand wash and took our buggy through the buggy wash. McColley helped me with the final scrub down:

Then it was time to head home after a quick swing through the gift shop where I picked up an assortment of British preserves. Now all we need to do is whip up a batch of scones to test them all out!
