Today we visited the Im.perial War Museum:
The museum has eight sections (each is a separate building). We followed the suggested itinerary for 'Families with Small Children' so our first stop was AirSpace where we got to check out some of the planes undergoing restoration:
Then the boys had a great time playing with a ton of demonstrations that taught them what makes planes and rockets fly. The air powered missile was their favorite:
McColley also really enjoyed the simulated cockpit... although he had a bit of trouble keeping himself level:
AirSpace featured a ton of British planes including the C.oncorde - which we got to go inside:
The second stop on the itinerary was the playground:
The third itinerary stop was The Ba.ttle of Brit.ain. The museum features more than just the planes involved, they also highlight how civilians were affected and the sacrifices that everyone made:
The itinerary's fourth stop was the Am.erican Air Museum but we were distracted en route by an F-15 Str.ike Eag.le (one of McColley's favorite planes):
Honestly, we've seen a lot of these planes before although it was interesting to see them presented from a different perspective. Given that it wasn't the most interesting place for us, we decided to just sit for a bit:
Brayton did not agree with the sitting down plan and he took over photography duties:
What followed was a lot of blurry pictures, McColley 'helping', Aunt Roberta's camera being added to the mix and eventually a pretty good picture:
Once the cameras had been safely turned off, we headed to the last stop on the itinerary - the Land War Museum. We went the easy route and just looked at everything from the balcony:
Then it was time to walk back to the car. This is when we realized how far we'd walked... a whole runway length. We paused a few times to check out the activity:
