Jousting, Archery and Art

Yesterday we drove to He.athrow for the very first time to pick up Aunt Roberta!

Today we took her to Ble.nheim Palace:

Our main reason for going was that McColley wanted to see some knights and horses in action:

McColley declared this knight his favorite and called him 'Hopkins' because (with his helmet on) he looks like the Hopkins family crest:

It was exciting to see a joust in person:

When the jousting tournament ended, I decided to search out the archery area described on the event brochure.  We found it and McColley got to learn how to shoot an arrow:

However, he made Daddy shoot three of his five arrows:

McColley and Daddy finished up archery just in time for us to watch the dragon puppet show:

After helping the dragon learn to breath fire we were hungry!

We walked all the way back across the South Lawn to get to the Palace's restaurant:

With full tummies, it was time to explore inside the Palace:

Of course, no pictures were allowed inside.  However, during the tour we spotted several portraits of the beautiful 9th Duc.hess of Marlb.orough.  Finally after seeing about three portraits it dawned on me who she was... and the fact that we'd been to another one of her homes.

When our tour of the State Rooms was over, it was time for a short break in one of the portico's niches:
Then it was back home for dinner after a great day of exploring with Aunt Roberta!
